Throughout high school, I knew many people that struggled with a mental illness. These individuals were afraid to ask for help, because they believed they would be judged.

 

When my friend Nick mentioned that he planned on founding the Lift the Mask Club, I was extremely excited to become a part of the club. As Penn State is such a big university, I knew that there were many students struggling with a mental illness. I do not want anyone to feel like they are alone in their fight against a mental illness. Becoming a part of this club has allowed me to do so.

 

Mental illness should never be something anyone is afraid to talk about. The mask needs to be lifted once and for all!
